While no new Wings album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1976 tour in Africa. Since Wings last CD ([1977] Wings Over America (live)) on Mute Records back in 1976, I have felt a massive void in my life. Wings was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Wings and [1977] Wings Over America (live) together. [1977] Wings Over America (live) is not something you should pass up.
I listened to the opening track Let Me Roll It and liked it a lot. As always, Wings’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. In Medicine Jar the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. The song Maybe I’m Amazed ending is my favorite… so catchy! A unique and uplifting song. From the moment you listen to Lady Madonna you’re hooked. The Long And Winding Road to me is the best you can get from Wings. Live And Let Die is outstanding work of Wings. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Picasso’s Last Words is my favorite song on [1977] Wings Over America (live). Richard Cory was the first single release from the album [1977] Wings Over America (live). Bluebird is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. I was truly moved when I heard I’ve Just Seen A Face. After you’ve listened to Blackbird, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Yesterday still maintains something of a specific flourish. You Gave Me The Answer as a highlight of [1977] Wings Over America (live) contains a ton of exquisite melodies. Wings has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Go Now hits the heart. No Wings song has come close to capturing my attention as My Love did. I came to like Listen To What The Man Said. Let’em In is probably one of Wings’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. This track is full of harmonies and gets [1977] Wings Over America (live) off to a relaxing start. The first time I listened to Silly Love Songs I was struck by its perfect sound. Beware My Love good vocals. Wings breathes new life into the music in Letting Go. Band On The Run is Wings’s best work in years. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Soily is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade.
