There is so much to love about Wipers, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This disc has all of the essential Wipers classics. Is This Real? isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Is This Real? is not something you should pass up.
All of songs on Is This Real? and have something to say letting alone Mystery. Up Front is a bit of a show-tune. Let’s Go Away is the song that really did it for me. Is This Real is one of the best records ever. I was truly moved when I heard Tragedy. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Potential Suicide is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Don’t Know What I Am is a bit different from Wipers stereotypical stuff. Window Shop For Love actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Wipers’s face. Wait A Minute is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Born With A Curse is a good listen every once in a while. Rebel With A Cause is perfect. After few listenings I started to like Misfit more and more. When I listen to Mystery in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Tragedy marked the continuation of Wipers in style evolution. Music and lyrics of Let’s Go Away creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Is This Real - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Song Alien Boy is actually a funny song. The sound in Image Of Man is really warm and Wipers’s signature voice is still very much present. Telepathic Love is one of the coolest songs Wipers has ever recorded. Voices In The Rain (1:24) a good melody.
