Yes’s debut, ‘Drama’, does not fit easily into one genre. fourteen years ago, Yes briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “In The Tower”. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Yes’s album Drama falls to No. 2 with 210,000, a sales slide of 72%. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
In The Tower is a very catchy tune. Golden Age is pretty funky and mellow. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. White Car (Tracking Session) pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. A great put together song. Song No.4 (Satellite) is a bit different from Yes stereotypical stuff. Have We Really Got To Go Throught This as a highlight of Drama contains a ton of perfect melodies. Run Through The Light (Single Version) - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. I’ve found myself listening to Into The Lens (I Am A Camera) (Single Version) back to back and back many times. Tempus Fugit defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Vocals of Yes in Run Through The Light really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Into The Lens. Does It Really Happen? is a bit of a show-tune. White Car is nothing but pure genius. Machine Messiah is another strong production from Yes.
