Since Yma Sumac last CD (Live 61) on ForeFront Records back in 1961, I have felt a massive void in my life. There is no doubt that Yma Sumac has talent. Yma Sumac was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Yma Sumac and Live 61 together. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Live 61.
Wambra is exquisite and different song. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Ataypura because the melody in the chorus is so good. Montana is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Once you hear Supay Taki, you will listen to it over and over. Yma Sumac has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Hori Canastttai is a strong cut, one of many. Serenata India - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Goomba Boomba is astounding. Cueca Chilena is the gorgeous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. This song may be the most meaningful. I find myself hearing bits of Marinera here and there throughout my waking hours. Chuncho is the first taste of the new album.
