Since completing 1975’s ‘Thunderbird’, ZZ Top fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of the best Cd’s ZZ Top has dropped to date. ZZ Top had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Exciting stuff.
It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Backdoor Medley is astounding. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Blue Jean Blues is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. ZZ Top sings his heart out in Balinese. Mexican Blackbird is the albums biggest surprise. I was truly moved when I heard Heard It On The X. Tush is a gorgeous song and it grows on you.
